Naysayers, Perfectionists, Dickheads

BEWARE THE NAYSAYERS, THE PERFECTIONISTS, AND THE DICKHEADS.

Here I am, with my jacket flung open and an attempt at some winter sun on my face.

The naysayer would caution me against sun exposure. The perfectionist would remind me that vitamin D from the sun is only beneficial if your body can adequately convert it. The dickhead would point out that I’m too far north and the sun is at too shallow of an angle for me to get ANY beneficial Vitamin D at this time of year, so I’m really wasting my time. I’ve learned that there will always be naysayers, but that their “nays” are about them; not about you. Turn the other cheek. Do you. I’ve learned that the perfectionists are always scavenging for the new data, the fresh biohack, the next-next-next level. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good. I’ve learned that the dickheads are self-important show-offs who want to appear influential but rarely have anything constructive to add to the narrative, apart from letting you know that, whatever you’re doing, it’s not enough. Know that no effort is too small. Every seemingly insignificant step you take toward health and happiness is worth acknowledging and celebrating.
